C.PALANCA (~1750)

            Carlo
Palanca (1688-1783) was a bassoonist and wind instrument maker in
Turin.
            This
model has been realised after an original in a private collection in
Frankfurt, dated 1750.
            A
powerful instrument, solid in the bass register and fluent in the
upper,
the forked fingerings, (notably G# and Bb), normally weak, are
particularly sonorous.
            This
flute is much appreciated in an orchestral context
 but can quite
easily be made to fit into smaller chamber music groups.
